Called “remarkable” by Strings and “exemplary” by Strad , the Amelia Piano Trio is one of the most sought after young piano trios. Highlights of the Trio's brief history include: the Grand Prize from the Yellow Springs National Chamber Music Competition; Finalists at the prestigious Walter F. Collaborating with the Trio are virtuosos of the Erhu and Pipa, as well-respected and in-demand as the Trio itself. The Erhu, or Chinese violin, is an ancient instrument, which has two strings, and a small sound box covered with snakeskin. The Pipa is a pear-shaped lute with 24 frets and a history of over 2,000 years.
