Hailed by The Washington Post for “sponsoring remarkable vocal and instrumental ensembles” and “stellar performances -- by established artists or those early in their careers…” Dumbarton Concerts has become a mainstay of the cultural community in the Nation's capital. Recognized as one of the region's top chamber orchestras, Eclipse's membership is drawn primarily from the National Symphony Orchestra and has been hailed by The Washington Post as “outright extraordinary.” The evening promises to be exceptional with a rare large-ensemble performance as nineteen string players fill the Dumbarton stage. Tudor Dominik Maican is recognized as one of the most gifted young composers in the world today. The recipient of more than 40 awards and honors around the world, including the ASCAP Young Composers Competition and being selected as a Presidential Scholar in the Arts, this eighteen year old is currently a freshman at Indiana University. In a review of the world premiere of his second string quartet last year, The Washington Post said, “it is not an exaggeration to say he has everything.”
