WASHINGTON: On Saturday, February 2, 2008 at 8pm, Norwegian vocal sensation Nordic Voices returns to the stage at Dumbarton Concerts with a performance of renaissance music drawn from the time of Carlos V. In their Washington debut, also at Dumbarton Concerts, the ensemble was hailed by The Washington Post for their “astounding range of sonic vocabulary…that thrilled the senses and sent an emotional message no listener could miss.” This performance, centered around three settings of one of the most frequently used Latin motet texts, “O Magnum Mysterium,” which span 500 years, promises to be anything but a run-of-the-mill assortment of sacred choral music. Among the composers drawn upon to create this program are Non Papa, Manchicourt, Morales, Kverndokk, and Ødegaard.
