From the red hot English baroque sensation Red Priest to the freshness and clarity of the six voice vocal ensemble Nordic Voices, and to the warming comfort of your favorites like, Eclipse Chamber Orchestra and, of course, Barnes and Hampton, the Dumbarton Concert Series is presenting another season “where the music is always excellent.” For our 30th Birthday, Dumbarton has chosen the most enticing of programmatic themes, such as our Jazz pianist, Bill Mays' program, The Songs We Love , Amelia Piano Trio's East Meets West and the Cyprus Quartet's Inspired by America concert, where this extraordinary San Francisco quartet will play the Barber String Quartet, Op.II, Griffes' Two Sketches on Native American Themes , and of course the beloved, Dvorak's American Quartet. The series which has brought you Shirley Horn, Cyrus Chestnut, Anonymous 4, and of course, the incomparable cellist, Mstislav Rostropovich, is bringing you yet another stunning season of gorgeous music. And because it is chamber, and it is supposed to be intimate, Dumbarton Concerts has also chosen to remain true to chamber music's intent, by staying in the same, intimate and sacred space for 30 years: the 200 year old, warm wood paneled, candlelit infused Dumbarton Church where Lincoln worshipped and Walt Whitman was inspired to write. Inspiration, heat, comfort and warmth – what more could you ask for in a 30th anniversary?
